Introduction to diabetes – a short course for nurses


This short course for nurses has been endorsed by Royal College of Nursing, Australia, according to approved criteria. Attendance attracts 10.5 RCNA Continuing Nurse Education (CNE) points as part of RCNA’s Life Long Learning Program (3LP)

The course includes seven sessions offered on a second weekly basis using an online training platform called GoToTraining. Each session is based on set diabetes readings and activities. Sessions are run in an interactive way and presented by experienced health professionals. The course is facilitated and coordinated by a credentialled diabetes educator from Country Health SA – Diabetes Outreach. We usually enrol between 10 and 12 participants in the course. The next course will commence on the 3rd September from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. To access the sessions you will need internet access and a telephone or headset with microphone.

Advanced Diabetes Continuing Education 2013

The Advanced Diabetes Continuing Education Program is a series of topics and discussions led by specialists in the field of diabetes and related areas. The series is designed to make available advanced, evidence based information about diabetes to rural and remote health professionals working in the area of diabetes education and care. Diabetes Fundamentals (self directed online modules)

A self directed program that introduces the concepts of managing type 2 diabetes. The 11 modules are designed to provide an update on the basic principles of diabetes management and care for health care providers. It also introduces participants to a range of teaching resources, tools and organisations.

Sick day management in type 2 diabetes

An online module designed to enhance education about sick day management in type 2 diabetes. There are 2 case studies each having questions in a multiple choice format. You can work through the case studies at your own pace and a certificate is issued on completion.
